The Congress rule in the then united Andhra Pradesh was undoubtedly the best governance people of the state have ever witnessed from the time India got independence. Congress party has genuinely worked for the welfare of all the sections of society. From education to agriculture and IT exports have seen a tremendous growth during the Congress rule in the state.
Most importantly the agriculture production during the Congress regime was enhanced, of course by virtue of good rains along with the farmer friendly policies of the government. Congress government had waived off the electricity and loans of the farmers besides providing them free electricity across the state.
Quality seeds were provided for every Kharif and Rabi seasons that has resulted in higher produce. Moreover, state government had increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the paddy and other farmers thus ensuring them a modest and above moderate income.
In fact, the Congress government in the state had filled the farmers’ hearts with lot of confidence and supported them in every aspect from sowing seeds to power supply and sale of the harvest.
As a result of this support extended by the government the agriculture production during those years has seen a steep increase and state could export its farm produce to other states and to the other countries as well.
Congress leadership in the united Andhra Pradesh was successful in its avowed promise of creating an additional ayacut of 24.5 lakh acres in Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Prakasam, Nellore and other districts by taking up new irrigation projects after the restrictions imposed by the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal were lifted.
The credibility and performance of the Congress party in the state has won another five years of tenure for it during the 2009 elections.
