- KCR involved in multi-crore ESI, Sahara scams: People’s Front
- KCR surrendered Telangana’s interest to save himself from CBI
Hyderabad, November 30: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had surrendered the interest of Telangana before Prime Minister Narender Modi only to save himself from action by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a multi-crore ESI Hospital scam.
Uttam made this revelation while addressing a press conference along with Telangana TDP President L. Ramana, ex-MP Aziz Pasha of CPI and Vidhyadhar Reddy of TJS on Friday night. He claimed that he had documentary evidences to prove the allegations.
He alleged that KCR, as the then Union Minister of Labour, Employment and Training in 2006, was involved in the alleged irregularities in the award of contract related to civil works done in ESI hospitals in three cities of Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada He said the CBI in its chargesheet had clearly mentioned that it was at KCR’s instance that the contract was taken away from the National Building Construction Company (NBCC) and given to an executive engineer V Suryanarayana of AP Fisheries Department. The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) was forced to cancel the contract with NBBC and it was awarded on nomination basis in violation of guidelines of Central Vigilance Commission. He said that the decision was allegedly taken in a meeting held at KCR’s residence. A probe conducted by IIT Chennai and an internal investigation by ESIC in 2007-08 revealed that the work executed was of sub-standard quality and failed to meet conditions in the contract.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that KCR should have been the prime accused in the case. However, despite his name appearing in the charge sheet, Modi Government took no action against him and his name has been deleted from the FIR.
“KCR’s frequent trips to Delhi are not for any health check-ups. They are only to hush up the cases of corruption in which he is involved. While the entire world comes to LV Prasad Eye Hospital, KCR goes to Delhi to eye-check up. He goes to Delhi to ask PM Modi to stop CBI from taking action in the ESIC scam,” he alleged.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the CBI comes under the direct purview of the Prime Minister. However, he said Modi has always saved KCR from CBI action. In return, KCR turned a slave and mortgaged Telangana’s interest before the BJP Government and supported every decision taken by Modi. He said both TRS and BJP owe an explanation to the people in this regard. Modi must clarify as to why he did not act as per law against KCR? he asked.
Meanwhile, Telangana TDP President Ramana alleged that Modi also saved KCR in the Rs. 7,000 crore EPF scam involving Sahara Group. He said KCR had allegedly favoured Sahara Group in 2006 by allowing the company to manage EPF accounts on its own. However, the Sahara Group alleged cheated 11 lakh employees and central government to the tune of Rs. 7,000 crore by evading employer’s contribution and also using employees’ contribution for itself. He claimed that KCR was also grilled by the CBI in this case. However, he said Modi saved KCR from this case and therefore, it became the basis of the secret partnership between the BJP and TRS.
They also slammed KCR for his criticism on UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and AP Chief Minister and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
