Kodad, December 4: Elaborate arrangements have been made for the last public meeting of this election at Kodad on Wednesday.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address the meeting at Uttam Padmavathi Nagar Ground in Kodad of Suryapet district at 2 pm on Wednesday, the last day of campaign. The meeting is likely to be attended by lakhs of people from Huzurnagar and Kodad constituencies which were represented in the dissolved Assembly by TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and his wife Padmavathi Reddy. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President Nara Chandrababu Naidu, TJS President Prof. M. Kodandaram, Balladeer Gaddar, Telangana TDP President L. Ramana, CPI State Secretary Chada Venkatreddy, MRPS Chief Manda Krishna Madiga and other leaders of People’s Front will also attend the meeting. Rahul Gandhi will come to Kodad from Vijayawada which is about 95 km.

Uttam Kumar Reddy visited the public meeting venue on Tuesday evening and reviewed the arrangements. Speaking to media persons, he said that Wednesday’s meeting would be historic on many counts as Rahul Gandhi would end the election campaign at an energetic note. He said that the People’s Front comprising of Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI would come to power in next elections and there was no doubt about it. He said KCR had ruled Telangana in a dictatorial and arrogant manner while giving no respect or importance to anyone except his family members. It is fortunate that people of Telangana got an opportunity to get rid of KCR’s rule six months ahead of schedule, he said.

The TPCC Chief said despite knowing that his rule will come to an end in less than one week, KCR did not stop targeting the Congress leaders by misusing police. He strongly condemned the arrest of TPCC Working President Revanth Reddy only to facilitate the visit of KCR to Kodangal. Describing the arrest as illegal, he said the way Revanth Reddy was taken into custody at 3 am was highly condemnable. He said tress passing into the house of a legislator and one of the top leaders of a national party at past mid-night and taking him into custody by breaking open his door could not be justified. He said police officials who broke the law to follow the illegal dictates of KCR would certainly face action after Congress party comes to power. He slammed the Election Commission of India and other authorities for their silence over open violation of Code of Conduct by the ruling TRS. He demanded that the authorities must ensure free and fair polling on December 7.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress leaders and cadre have seen much harassment during the last four-and-a-half years and never backed down. Now with less than a week left for the end of KCR rule, Congress leaders would not feel threatened. He said KCR has lost mental balance due to the fear of a humiliating defeat in next elections and therefore, he is trying in vain to stay afloat. Stating that deception always ends in rejection, he said that people of Telangana would teach TRS, KCR and his family a fitting lesson on December 7. He said that the Congress-led People’s Front would get a comfortable majority and form the next government on December 12.
