TRS is ‘Telangana Rashtra Sangh Parivar’, says Rahul Gandhi

Kosgi (Kodangal), November 28: Launching a scathing attack on TRS, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that TRS does not stand for ‘Telangana Rashtra Samithi’ but ‘Telangana Rashtra Sangh Parivar’.

Addressing a massive public meeting at Kosgi in Kodangal Assembly constituency on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi described the TRS as B-Team of Sangh Parivar and BJP. “Prime Minister Narender Modi is dividing the nation and spreading hatred. What all he did against Dalits, Adivasis and minorities was not possible without the help from KCR,” he alleged. KCR has supported Modi, Sangh Parivar and RSS at every step. When we were fighting against Modi on Land Acquisition Act to save farmers’ land, TRS MPs were supporting BJP. Whenever Modi needed any help, KCR was always there for him, he said.

“Whether it is MIM or TRS, their main aim is to stop Congress party from defeating BJP at the national level. If TRS would have been ‘Telangana Rashtra Samithi’, then KCR would not have helped a man like Modi. When I asked TRS MPs on why they are helping BJP on issues like Land Acquisition Act, which you changed in your State, they clearly told me that they were doing it at the directions of KCR. Therefore, TRS is Telangana Rashtra Sangh Parivar and its target is to ensure that Modi remains PM,” Rahul Gandhi alleged.

Rahul Gandhi also ridiculed the remarks made the Prime Minister wherein he stated that TRS and Congress were same. He said Congress has been fighting against Modi on Rafale, Land Acquisition Act and other ideological issues. “How many times KCR spokes on Rafale scam? How many times KCR attacked PM Modi? Listen to his speeches. He never speaks on Rafale, Land Acquisition or other issues,” he said.

The Congress president said that the people of Telangana have seen a dream five years ago. But it was shattered by KCR. Telangana was a revenue-surplus State at the time of its formation. But today, it is in huge debts of over Rs. 2 lakh crore with each family having a debt of more than Rs. 2.65 lakh crore. “While every individual in Telangana is under debts, the income of KCR’s son KTR has increased by 400% in the last four years,” he said.

He alleged that KCR Government has indulged in huge irregularities in the name of Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha. A burden of over Rs. 40,000 crore was imposed on people by redesigning Kaleshwaram Project. Similarly, people’s money was wasted in the name of painting old tanks. He said farmers and youth were cheated by KCR regime. “KCR had promised to fill 1 lakh vacancies. How many jobs have been given by KCR to youth? But he gave jobs to four members of his family,” he said. Similarly, he said Women Self Help Groups did not get any assistance under TRS rule. “Women are the backbone of this society. Without them, Telangana cannot move forward. Next Congress-led Government will give Rs. 1 lakh grant to all women SHGs and Rs. 500 crore funds will be allocated to give loans to women entrepreneurs,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi said KCR had promised to give double bed room houses to 22 lakh poor families. But TRS Govt delivered only about 5,000 houses. The promise of three acres of land for poor Dalits and Girijans remained unfulfilled. “We will give you land and houses. Our Chief Minister will work to give jobs to youth. An allowance of Rs. 3,000 per month will be given to jobless youth and in the first year of formation of government we will provide one lakh government jobs,” he said.

The Congress president alleged that KCR gave benefits of Telangana only to his family, friends and contractors. He said people were forced to spend lakhs of rupees on health and education. It costs thousands of rupees if one has to under MRI, x-ray or a surgery. “This is your money and not of contractors or KCR’s friends. This money will be returned to you by the Congress party. We will provide free treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh for everyone. A 30-bedded hospital will be constructed in each mandal. Rs. 5 lakh will be given for construction of own house. “The power which is lying in the hands of just one family now will be divulged to panchayats,” he announced.

He claimed that there was a wave in favour of Congress party and its allies and it would dislodge KCR from power. He claimed that the Congress-led People’s Front was coming to power. “The dream which you’ve seen and struggle for and the dream which was supported by Sonia Gandhi will be fulfilled. Your dream of Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyaamakaalu (water, funds and jobs) will be turned into a reality by People’s Front,” he said.

“The government is about to change in Telangana. It will be your government. First we will defeat KCR in Hyderabad and the Modi at the national level. BJP and TRS will face defeat in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana,” he said.

In his speech, TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence that the Congress-led People’s Front would win all 14 seats of erstwhile Mahabubnagar district. Advising people not to get misled by the propaganda of ‘battebaz’ (cheaters) of TRS, he said that the People’s Front was all set to come to power and its government would sworn in on December 12. He said also highlighted the major promises made in the Congress party’s manifesto which include Rs. 2 lakh crop loan waiver, supply of 7 kg fine rice per individual and nine essential commodities on subsidised rates at ration shops. He said the next government would also supply 6 LPG cylinders at free of cost to BPL families. He said that the next government would be accessible and address the grievances of all sections of the society.

TPCC Working President A. Revanth Reddy gave an impressive speech and also translated the speech of Rahul Gandhi from Hindi to Telugu. TJS Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram and other senior leaders also addressed the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi was accorded a warm welcome at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport by the TPCC Chief, T. Subbarami Reddy, Mohammed Azharuddin, Gudur Narayana Reddy and other leaders.
